As I grew up surrounded by the work of my father Dirk van Gelder (1907-1990), in which love of detail is a characteristic, from childhood onwards drawing from nature was a significant part of my life.
In this tradition I believe in the old, which is good to extent that it remains ever new, just as the new is good to extent that it can endure and grow old.
