René Jansen develops and realizes projects in indoor and outdoor space. He forms a duo with Angelique Josten but also works regularly with other artists. The work of René Jansen is characterized by the explicit use of the social environment. A mix of idea, spatial design, social processes and possibly, the possibilities of food a larger whole. The designs are focused on communication between people. Seeing and finding specific qualities of a place or context are decisive for concept development and spatial design.

2018City of Sounds Dordtyart Dordrecht, Netherlands "City of Sounds" is part of the eponymous cultural participation project of Slagwerk Den Haag. Commissioned by this renowned ensemble, René Jansen (1969, NL) and Bram Vreven (1973, BE) created a collection of sound objects in 2017 that will be presented at DordtYart as an autonomous installation. The visitor can move the objects in space, make the sounds louder or softer and bring more or fewer objects to life. This creates an individual sound experience amidst an urban-looking shape composition. The current arrangement contains The Hague city sounds from the sound library of composer Darien Brito. 2009Garden of eden Nestruimte the haque When invited to query presentation René Jansen proposed to turn Nest into an indoor city park including allotments in which tomatoes could grow, performances could take place and people from the neighborhood could meet and relax. As a result during the summer Nest was filled with earth, grass, vegetables, a mushroom cave with a stage on top and a dark basement for the growth of chicory. People gathered for performances by amateur and professional dancegroups, country-rockbands and experimental artists while enjoying the fruits of the garden that were cultivated by volunteers from inside and outside the DCR, the cultural breeding ground in which Nest resides.
