Floris Kruidenberg: "An important subject of thought and research in my work is perception. Our abilities and our limitations in seeing and understanding our surroundings, the way we first need to name and define things in order to truly see them, the way we can never have a view on the world as one piece instead of a synthesis of many loose signals, the way we can’t escape our expectations and preconceptions, these are things that have intrigued me for a long time". My work doesn’t have a fixed shape or medium. It could be an observation chair, in which I’m making drawings of my surroundings on a daily basis, it could be an installation writing my own name in the condense on the window, or one that mimics sunlight falling thought the trees. Approaching the image in a playful, associative approach, I try to make work that is first and foremost something you can experience, rather than explain.
