Jurjen Ravenhorst

Jurjen Ravenhorst graduated cum laude at the art academy in The Hague. He has specialized himself in lithography and has his own printing studio. His work can be seen in printers exhibitions all over the world, from Vilnius and Poland to Portugal and Canada. In several occasions his work was nominatad or awarded prizes. About the work In his most recent work Jurjen Ravenhorst has abandoned all representation. For years, his work has been recognizable by its – often small - elements like houses that turned the abstract figures and shapes in references to landscapes and stories. In the recent purely abstract it is even more clear to see where Jurjens focus and interest actually lies: he is a researcher, experimenting with materials and techniques, reacting during the process. His prints are the result of a dialogue of the artist with the work he is making. He delves into old techniques and adapts them for his own purpose, he interferes, his work is elaborate and well thought-out.
