2021Boijmans drive-thru museum, Beijng, Shanghai and Shenzhen, China Boijmans drive-thru museum Beijng, Shanghai and Shenzhen, China Born of necessity in a world trying to cope with Covid-19, drive-through museum exhibitions could be coming to China in the new year. “We are working towards licensing a travelling version of our drive-through exhibition for display in Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen from as early as March,” says Sjarel Ex, director of the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen (MBVB), in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The exhibition he’s referring to – the Boijmans Ahoy Drive-Thru Museum – was organised at short notice, and attracted 22,000 visitors, all safely isolated in their own electric vehicle, over the course of three weeks in August. Topically themed – probing humankind’s relationship with nature – the sell-out show was a collaboration between the museum and the Rotterdam Ahoy convention centre. www.scmp.com/lifestyle/travel-leisure/article/3113807/drive-through-exhibition-attracts-new-audience-art-and-its Group

2020Remix Rotterdam. Boijmans X Wereldmuseum Wereldmuseum Rotterdam, Netherlands ‘Remix Rotterdam’ is an encounter between two museums: Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen and the Wereldmuseum: museums that are inextricably linked to the city of Rotterdam and share common donors and visitors. Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, which opened in 1849, has traditionally focused on collecting Western objects and works of art. The Wereldmuseum, founded in 1885, focuses primarily on cultural artefacts from Asia, Africa and the Americas. The exhibition, featuring 120 objects from the Middle Ages to the twentieth century, constitutes an experimental, cosmopolitan museum based on a remix of the Rotterdam collections. It blurs classical collecting categories and reveals trans-historic and transcultural connections. www.boijmans.nl/tentoonstellingen/remix-rotterdamn/exhibitions/jeroen-eisinga Group

2020MIRRORS of TIME Forum Triangulare, Euroregionaal Kunstcentrum Oud-Rekem Oud-Rekem, BE, Belgium Everything in life reflects time. This also applies to Oud-Rekem, which has since been given new life with many idiosyncratic exhibitions. It is where Annemie Van Laethem & Erik Croux found the place thirty years ago to give a face to their passion for contemporary art. The castle acts as a mirror of recent developments in the world of contemporary art. Mirrors of Time reflects how the love for art took shape here in many ways. The focus is on a tireless dedication and passion for contemporary visual art, for the empathy and interpretation of often not always young, sometimes unknown, but also internationally active visual artists. Many found ways from here to a large audience. Mirrors of Time revolves around the insight that art is always about time and can be seen as a reflection of the thinking and work of artists. Visitors can enter at any level imaginable, but always in amazement and amazement. Especially in our time, which demands new and well-known reflections, practices and wisdom, art is indispensable as a reflective source of hope and inspiration. www.forumtri.be/nl/project/2020 Group

2020Bugs – Beauty and Danger GroundWork Gallery Norfolk, UK, United Kingdom Bugs, Beauty and Danger is GroundWork gallery’s latest exhibition. It is about insects, seen through visual art. But nothing about insects is straightforward. For a start, there are so many different kinds – winged, crawling, hard or soft-bodied, nocturnal or diurnal, invisible, harmful, or beneficial. Not even specialists know everything about their survival, their habits, or even the extent of our interdependence with them. As the public our feelings are mixed – we love and fear insects – but they are so often regarded as pests. www.groundworkgallery.com/exhibition/bugs-beauty-danger/ Group

2019Freedom - fifty Dutch core artworks since 1968 Museum De Fundatie Zwolle, Netherlands Freedom – The Fifty Key Dutch Artworks Since 1968 is an ambitious and somewhat unconventional project will feature the fifty ‘key artworks’, the leading works produced in the Netherlands over the past fifty years. Freedom will be deliberately subjective, intended both as an invitation to debate and as a declaration of love for Dutch art. As such, Freedom will be unmissable for anyone who wants to see all the top art produced in the Netherlands over the past fifty years brought together in one show. //www.museumdefundatie.nl/en/freedom/ Group

2019Jeroen Eisinga - The social ladder Kunstmuseum Den Haag The Hague, Netherlands For the exhibition Jeroen Eisinga - The social ladder in the projects room, the artist combines five films from the nineties: 40-44-PG (1993), Grauzone (1995), The most important moment of my life (1995), Night Porter (1993) and The social ladder (1996 - 2019). The latter film had never been seen in public before. In addition to these five films, visitors also get an insight into the research and preparations that are part of the production process. Sketchbooks from 25 years of preliminary research are on display in showcases. In some cases they are works of art in themselves that are related to one of the films. www.kunstmuseum.nl/nl/tentoonstellingen/jeroen-eisinga Solo

2019Expedition Eisinga The Electricity Factory The Hague, Netherlands With the Hague film artist Jeroen Eisinga, the Electriciteitsfabriek places film art within the Winter Workshops series. The exhibition shows six films by Eisinga that show his development as a film artist. In Nightfall, Eisinga's last and previously unseen film, bitter reality is inescapably present. The camera has a fixed point of view throughout the film and shows a frozen lake. In the center of the image is a flock of sheep, grouped around a hole in the foreground of the image. A dead sheep is frozen in the hole. It is snowing and the wind is blowing, the sheep move a bit but mainly stand still. Slowly and slowly they are covered by the snow. The film is an hour long, but the time that passes in the film is longer. When the film roll is changed, which happens four times during the film, there is a 'cut' in the image. This is how evening falls. Apparently nothing happens in Nightfall, and at the same time a lot happens. There is always a different detail that attracts attention, the movement of a sheep, the way the forest behind the lake lights up slightly, how snow blows through the image. Nightfall (2018) is the direct reason for the exhibition Expedition Eisinga. Nightfall is Eisinga's most ambitious film project to date, but also a film in which ideas from his previous films resonate. www.electriciteitsfabriek.nl/agenda/expeditie-eisinga Solo

2020The social ladder Gemeente Den Haag i.s.m. Stroom Den Haag Den Haag, Netherlands On Friday 22 November 2019, visual artist Jeroen Eisinga was honored with the Ouborg Prize 2019 for his large and rich oeuvre. Part of the prize is the Dutch-language publication The Social Ladder, published by Stroom Den Haag and the exhibition of the same name in Kunstmuseum Den Haag. Jeroen Eisinga (1966) worked on the 328-page collection together with his wife Natasja van Kampen. The lyrics are his, the design is hers. As Eisinga puts it, "it has become a scintillating book full of ideas and discoveries. Sketches, ideas, thoughts, substantive reflections, the design for projects, the completion of projects, failed projects and work that has never been shown before. I have combined this with texts that are not should be seen as an explanation of the visual work, but as underlying thoughts, investigations and as independent and self-contained. 1997Prix de Rome Film & Video Prix de Rome, Amsterdam Amsterdam, Netherlands The Prix de Rome or Grand Prix de Rome was a French scholarship for arts students, initially for painters and sculptors, that was established in 1663 during the reign of Louis XIV of France. Winners were awarded a bursary that allowed them to stay in Rome for three to five years at the expense of the state. The prize was extended to architecture in 1720, music in 1803 and engraving in 1804. The prestigious award was abolished in 1968 by André Malraux, then Minister of Culture, following the May 68 riots that called for cultural change. Prix the Rome, shared 3rd prize
