Every painting is a journey of discovery
With every new painting, I embark on an adventure of unfamiliar routes using my own style, perception, and sense of color. Making a painting is a journey through my inner self. Layer-by-Layer, a piece of art with its own soul arises.
The impressions and experiences of travelling are important for my development as an artist. Each new location has its own unique lighting and angle of incidence. I explore new inspiring themes everywhere.
By looking at the world from different angles, I have collected a wealth of images and imaginations. I am delighted to share these with everyone through my paintings.
Usually I paint with oil and acrylic paint, but I also experiment with iPad art. Printed on fine art paper I consider digital sketching as a new form of graphic art. In 2013 I won a prize for the best portrait of King Willem-Alexander that consisted of 40 iPad sketches.
In 2013 I published a book about my near-death experience due to a flu that got out of hand. In the story, dream and reality intermingle inimitably. In 2019 I published a book with iPad sketches of the garden in Mozambique.
