Dangling on emerges from the collision between the history, both anthropological and architectural, in the city of Rome and the artist’s research based on the analysis of reconstruction, deconstruction and cancellation. The hanging structures of polished aluminium softly occupy the space containing fragments of dark green soap-stone, both hard to touch and soft to sculpt. These fluctuating shapes, reminiscent of the retaining armour that protects the most fragile of the monuments, show the visible trace of what they once contained in the negative shape impressed over the stone fragments. Lisa Sebestikova revolutionizes these structures by depriving them of their function and by changing their nature: the armour becomes the body and what was created to remain static suddenly becomes dynamic. Each sculpture is conceived to be modular; they are all open to be changed and reassembled like open diaries that could tell infinite stories.
