Fou Fou is an ongoing artistic research inspired by Michel Foucault's work "History of Madness" "Fou Fou, a science fiction of insanity as part of an inclusive normality" is a large-scale project that critically explores the appropriate placement of madness in future society. This project progresses through stages, working towards the creation of a sci-fi video art piece. In my work, I am inspired by the raw and experimental aesthetics reminiscent of early science fiction films like the original Star Wars series. Embracing the DIY ethos of these films, I incorporate nascent AI technologies—still in their infancy—to evoke a similar hodgepodge, "houtje touwtje" charm. This approach not only pays homage to the captivating allure of these pioneering cinematic techniques but also underscores a deliberate engagement with the technological frontiers of our time. By weaving together speculative narratives and cutting-edge technologies, Fou Fou strives to provoke thought on the evolving nature of societal norms, the nuanced understanding of mental health, and the integration of unconventional perspectives into mainstream discourse. Through this process, I aim to challenge preconceptions and expand the boundaries of artistic expression within the realm of speculative fiction.

In this Philosophy special, we see two figures in togas inspired by Ancient Greek philosophers from Raphael's fresco "The School of Athens," striking a determined yet hesitant pose as they contemplate the essence of philosophy. Plato points upwards, indicating the spiritual and supernatural. Aristotle extends his arm forward with the palm facing the ground, symbolizing the earth as the source of all scientific knowledge.

part 2 of the four-panel "square videos" - a square video#2 "ill" videos about topics that are - in general social context - boring and taboo loaded at the same time. Part 2 "ill" shows two singers dressed up like Franciscans singing a parody of Afroman's "Because I got High" in a two-part gospel. By changing one crucial word in the chorus, the formability of life is being played. The monks symbolize structure & discipline, (holy) belief and complete devotion (to something).

2018Charlotte van Winden - "I became what I yearned for" Blog/Vlog Polly Picker pollypolls.weebly.com/magazine/charlotte-van-winden-i-became-what-i-yearned-for In a creative hood in The Hague in The Netherlands, the artist Charlotte van Winden created her studio in a shop building. In the beginning she shared the space with other artists, but at this moment she combined her love for organizing and creating with founding an artist run space. With her strength for DIY she renovated the front part of the shop building into a project space, with a new look for every project. Her own studio is in the back of the building with corridors and chambers full of books, wood, colorful images, tools, wigs, textile and other materials (...more)
