Installation view of the series Guide for Foreigners
Liza Szabó (1992) is a Hungarian photographer based in the Netherlands, where she graduated from the Royal Academy of Art the Hague in 2016. Her photography revolves around the question of reality, both in a visual and a theoretical sense. She is interested in the perception, with her work she tries to investigate how context defines the subject and how the individual affects the meaning. By creating carefully arranged scenes she seeks to understand our relationship towards memories and reality. She photographs staged sets that combine various elements, often working with paper, wood or other household objects. She is particularly interested in how three-dimensional forms and shapes translate into a two-dimensional medium and her work is highly inspired by graphic design, architecture, and modern dance.
