I often integrate sound or music, employing its directness in emotional communication and expression, and am intrigued by how it may resonate when combined with static sculptures or created in performances. my sculptures are primarily made to serve practical purposes. they are often electrically powered, kinetic, and produce sound. The craftsmanship/handprint of the maker is visible in the pieces to play with the narrative of a fictional 'inventor'. By studying the function of the piece, the viewer is led to imagine the creator through the proof of their work process, expressing their conviction of the necessity for the object to exist. To let these intentions work to their fullest, I try to show these sculptures outside of the art context as much as possible. The performances are musical or text driven and play with expectation. They are set up to give the impression to the viewer that they are witnessing a musical or theatrical performance, yet the medium is often manipulated to let other ideas unfold throughout its development. Every visual element and action is implemented consciously to build up an atmosphere that will add to the experience of the work.
