(self), 2021, inspired by encounters with fridges in houses of friends and random encounters – their doors become a storage of reminders on which photographs mingle with bills to pay and tacky magnets reminding us of past holidays. Fridges preserve much more than our food. Fridges are doors to our remembrances. They hold pieces of our memory. Often they become domestic decorations that carry gestures, emotional values and histories. Each of these stories carry bits and pieces of our interpersonal relationships. In the exhibition the self-standing door is pierced with a hole letting both sides leak into each other, by which the margin between becomes the spaces within. The relation between bodies, sight and objects is merged into the slanted door. (Excerpt of text by Arthur Cordier full text can be found on the website of Art Au Centre 6#)

The new work “Canaries” was shown at the Fort Ruigenhoek, nearby Utrecht. The old fort, originally a landmark intended to safeguard the Dutch waterways from possible threats is now being transformed for a temporary exhibition. The site-specific installation “Canaries” is an inquiry and exploration of given space and further draws upon concepts of protection and vulnerability. Entering the installation, the room inside the bunker is closed off from natural light. Instead of being in darkness the artist filled the room with an artificial blue lightening. The room is left blank, only two speakers are installed at either side of the ceiling. The sound they project are audio recordings from people taking a shower, filling the space with sounds of flowing water mixed with voices sinning and humming various songs.
