Multidisciplinary artist
My visual art is centered around – but by no means limited to – drawing. In my recent 'tree drawings' and related works, but also in earlier paintings, I show patterns and shapes in the (natural) arbitrariness that are recognised on a primal, rather than cognitive, level. I steer clear of the romanticism or (alleged) spiritualism that often informs renditions of natural subjects, while trying to preserve the sense of wonder. That way, I am able to apply the same conceptual approach to 'non-natural' subjects, or to multimedia projects and installations. In which, as a multidisciplinary artist, I also incorporate photography, painting, music and writing.
