Cryptic and distant wishes of yearning. Some days, I wish to become one with a mountain.

I've always struggled with affirming that there is space for me in this world-- So I built one. I attempt to bring a piece of That Place to this physical reality. That Place is where the horses and elephants roam freely, and where my racialized body can live alongside them, imagining possibilites of existing outside of the existing structures that are imposed upon us. In "To Dwell in Horses (They have always been there)", I invite you to experience this world, and to immerse yourself in the various stories, drawings, characters, objects, intimate and obscured texts and narratives from that distant place.

The Keris is a renowned sword in Javanese cultures that has strong associations to mysticism and magic. While referencing my own Javanese heritage, I attempt to tease the idea of cultural artefacts by incorporating my own characters into existing symbols in this ceramic object: "How would an imagined Keris from my imagined world would look like?"

"I recalled that sober afternoon vividly. That day, we were lying on the bed. You were sound asleep. When I was young, my family would visit my grandparents in the weekends. Every afternoon, the adults would nap, but I would just lay on the bed solemnly. A cool wind would keep me company, and on that day, the same wind returned, as I lay on the bed, watching you sleep". In this installation, I attempt to access that fleeting memory: It is an active action of yearning and searching what is now unknown and lost in memory.

2021With/Out West The Hague One cannot exist without the other: conversations on interconnected dualities. What is duality? How can we connect the dots of two things that have opposite meanings? In this exhibition the young artists explore the dualities we all work with on a daily basis. The exhibition With/Out is independently initiated by a group of 2nd and 3rd year Fine Arts students from the Autonoom and Painting & Printmaking department of the KABK (Koninklijke Academie van Beeldende Kunsten). When our current world is a mix and match of personalities and opinions, we find a way to search for what connects us, rather than divides us. There are references to Artificial Intelligence, human emotions, cultural artefacts, memories, and personal archives. Moreover, each room also engages a conversation between the artists and their works. This variety of subjects, though seemingly scattered at first, reflects the diversity of a group of artists in a globalized community. From installations, expressive paintings, to vibrant tapestries, confronting video work, and synthetic sculptures. www.westdenhaag.nl/exhibitions/21_07_With_Out Group

Untitled / Green manuscript kabk fine arts The Hague, Netherlands kiaram.hotglue.me/?projects/ Please scroll onto the bottom of the page to view project. In this project, I created a manuscript that is written in an encrypted alphabet and various drawings. I had designed the alphabets myself as a response to my difficult relationship with the usage of language, more particularly text and semantics within the context of my work. The result is a mysterious collection of drawings and text that resemble essays and poems. Because the text is essentially inaccessible, this leaves the audience with not much room but to speculate and to "fill in the dots". Within the manuscript also contains recurring characters that are also present in my ceramic/installation works. In this work, I am attempting for myself and the audience to embrace and accept the opaque nature of the work, as well as the unknown.
