info'w' is onderdeel van een serie van 3 waar ik vormen onderzoek met dezelfde betekenis. Wanneer kinderen leren lezen en schrijven worden vormen ineens gekoppeld aan klanken, aan een betekenis. De werken m, u en p zijn tegelijkertijd w, n en d, maar tegelijkertijd ook vele andere betekenissen. De doeken kunnen gedraaid worden en zo zoeken de vormen naar de betekenis van het schrift, de vorm, de taal die je gebruikt.

infoT-space is a new artistic space in Antwerp. As it was for a long time under construction I created a cloud on the window. During the renovation nothing was visible, you could only see some contours. During the opening-night I made an 't' in the window which was an opening true the cloud.

info'i' wilt haar punt maken maar weet eigelijk niet zo goed hoe het te zeggen, hoe het over te brengen. Ze zoekt naar haar punt.

info'k' is een portret van K. K was ooit in mijn leven een belangrijk persoon voor mij maar is niet meer in beeld. Zijn contouren zijn steeds minder zichtbaar. Uitgewist, verdwijnt hij langzaam uit mijn zicht.

infoVisible is the effort it takes ‘a’ to fit into the space. The ‘a’ is too big. She is a wooden installation and placed in the middle of a space. To see her at first you see she is uncomfortable, but when going though ‘a’ and looking at it in the other side it loses its meaning and it becomes an object, architectural—and again a cultural meaning. The two dimensional shape becomes three dimensional. This transformation (from the semiotic into the physical) is a liberating, democratising action. It shows that language is not some sort of metaphysical, untouchable, platonic entity, hovering high above us – but that language is ultimately material, tactile, physical, touchable, concrete. It is constructed, and thus can also be deconstructed, or reconstructed. It can even be destroyed. It can be touched, changed, shaped – by everyone.

What’s hanging in that tree? A square shape/object. A heart with corners, some kind of loop attached to it. Deep brown, black, and earth tones. It’s a kind of a .……. It smells…... woody/sylvan….? Licorice root, almost, with just the faintest touch of smoky cinnamon; if I do my best, I can detect the acidity of passion fruit. What am I looking at? What kind of 'fruit' is this? I see more of them, suspended between….... the leaves, hanging neatly from the branches. They seem to be looking at me… Are they edible? If yes, what could I prepare, turn them into? Can I eat the loop, or should the square heart be the centerpiece of the meal? Does it have a name? If not, what should be it called? The branches are drooping, heavy from the ripe fruit. I think it’s ready to be harvested……. What happens when characters, which are two-dimensional by nature, are transmuted into physical objects? When they are relocated to the material world, can they fulfill their original purpose (to question, to end, to pause, to add on, to exclaim, to interrupt, etc.), or does their function change? Can you eat a separation? Chew on an interruption? What happens when you swallow an exclamation? Can you harvest an ending or a quote?

2024‘als het regent geef ik de planten water’ Nieuw Dakota Amsterdam, Netherlands "If It Rains, I Water the Plants" is an installation of 21 book pages that together form a growing archive. The canvases are erased old paintings that gain a new meaning. Each canvas is numbered, making the pages look like a kind of diary. The book pages refer to old stories while also serving as blank pages for new ones to be written. They symbolize the cycles of life and transformation. nieuwdakota.com/ Solo

2024'Another Grand Day Out' 'Kieken Centrale' Antwerpen, Belgium Following the great success of A Grand Day Out back in 2023, this spring, Billytown will hit the road again... this time crossing the border. For Another Grand Day Out, the artists will board an NS train heading south, carrying their optimism like precious cargo. Their planned destination is Antwerp where, beyond their proverbial familiar shores, their journey will be transformed into a collective self-rediscovery, and the kindling of newfound connections. 2024Impossible Enough to Be an Art Space Lichtekooi Gallery Antwerp, Belgium Impossible Enough to Be an Art Space With 0gms cabinet (BG), Catbox Contemporary (US), CLEA RSKY (MX/US), Clutch Gallery (US), Flasher! (BE), Frieren Room (DE), Kakabinet (BE), SINK Vienna (AT) and Zum Goldenen Schnautz (BE). 04.05.2024 – 22.06.2024 No artist or curator starts at the MOMA. Most cultural activities first sprout in garages, flats, display cases, or other available residual spaces... This phenomenon occurs all over the world and the initiators of these exhibition spaces possess a boundless imagination and explore the limits of what is possible. Be it in a freezer compartment or on a cat scratching post, no space proves too “impossible” to be declared an art space! This exhibition aims to highlight “exhibition spaces” that often operate in the shadows but are nevertheless an indispensable part of the art world. Lichtekooi aims to highlight and celebrate these artists’ initiatives and, above all, their generosity toward their fellow artists. For this group exhibition, Lichtekooi is showing 9 "impossible" exhibition spaces that in turn present their own group or solo exhibition. 2023"Four legs good, two legs bad" Amsterdam, Netherlands Er is afstand tussen jullie en ons, zeggen de dieren, behalve misschien in de dood. Mij verbaast het niet dat raven verlangen naar de apocalyps. En giraffen de ineenstorting wensen van de mensenwereld. Lynxen zien liever nieuwwild trekken door groenvervallen steden, waar oogcontact tussen mens en aap op gelijke hoogte bestaat. Sommige beesten stellen voor — instemmig gehinnik klinkt — om de tijd om te laten keren. Geknor en getok besluiten dat totale extinctie ook tot de mogelijkheden behoort. Op z’n minst — zo maken vleugelwieken en staartzwaaien expliciet — dienen alle uitgestorven, nooit wetenschappelijk beschreven diersoorten alsnog een gezongen soortnaam te ontvangen. Ooit waren dieren boodschappers en beloften, maar ik versta ze niet meer. Geen mens kan voor ze spreken. We weten niet eens zeker wanneer ze het hebben tegen ons. In de groepstentoonstelling Four Legs Good, Two Legs Bad zijn dieren de kunstenaars. Een dierenfluisteraar heeft hen een stem gegeven, en mensen zijn de assistenten die hun concepten tot leven brachten. Voor deze tentoosntelling heb ik in opdracht een kunstenaarspublicatie ontworpen in samenwerking net het papiervisje.
